A manufacturing method of glass intermediate layer is provided, so that the laminate is not peeled off from the glass substrate when the glass substrate is separated. In the manufacturing method of glass intermediate layer, the laminates (4) formed on the front (1a) and back (1b) of the glass substrate (1) are processed along the dividing predetermined line (2) to form the first groove (20) of the glass substrate (1) at the depth of the first width (L1). Resin residue (60) is left at the bottom (20a). Then, the resin residue (60) is ablated to form the front (1a) of the glass substrate (1). The second groove (21) with a second width (L2) narrower than the first width (L1) is formed. The laser beam (LB2) is irradiated from the second groove (21) along the dividing predetermined line (2) and a modified layer (40) is formed inside the glass substrate (1). The modified layer (40) is applied to the glass substrate (1) and the glass substrate (1) is segmented with the modified layer (40) as the starting point. Therefore, when the glass substrate (1) is segmented, the stress will not act on the residual. On the resin residue (60) at the bottom (20a) of the first groove (20), the laminate (4) can be prevented from peeling off the glass substrate (1).
