The invention relates to a low chromium and low nickel duplex stainless steel and its preparation method, belonging to the technical field of iron and steel materials. The steel includes components and mass percentages of C 0.01-0.2%, Si 0.3-0.8%, Mn 8-15%, P < 0.02%, S < 0.01%, Ni < 0.5%, Al 0.5-2%, Cr 12-19%, B 0.001-0.01%, the remainder of Fe and inevitable impurities. The preparation process is as follows: the raw material is selected according to the proportion to melt and cast into ingots; after hot forging at 1050-1150 C, the forged billet is cooled to room temperature, and the forged billet is homogenized at 1200-1250 C for 6-8 hours. After homogenization, the forged billet is hot rolled at 1150-1200 C, and the final rolling temperature is 950-1050 C. The hot rolled slab is cooled to room temperature, annealed at 780-1000 C for 5-10 minutes, and will be retreated. Low chromium and low nickel duplex stainless steel was produced by cold rolling of hot rolled plate after pickling. The stainless steel has simple composition, low cost and excellent performance. Its yield strength is more than 520 MPa, tensile strength is more than 850 MPa and elongation is more than 60%. Its weldability and corrosion resistance meet the service requirements.
