The invention discloses a method for synthesizing SAPO_20 molecular sieve. The method first dissolves SAPO_34 molecular sieve catalyst or the abandoned SAPO_34 molecular sieve catalyst in sodium hydroxide solution, then puts it in a high-pressure reactor, crystallizes for 1_3 days at 160 C, and then cools after crystallization and dries after washing, the SAPO_20 molecular sieve is obtained. The invention not only develops a new route for synthesis of SAPO_20 zeolite, but also provides a utilization way of SAPO_34 zeolite waste catalyst, which can be used as a new exploration mode for energy saving, consumption reduction and comprehensive utilization in the process of SAPO_34 zeolite catalyst. Especially, SAPO_20 zeolite was synthesized by this method. After crystallization, no calcination template was needed. The product was regular in shape and uniform in particle size. It can be used for separation and adsorption, especially for the preparation of high quality SAPO_20 zeolite membrane.
