GB7258-2012机动车运行安全技术条件第11.8.2条款规定：每面号牌板（架）上应设有4个号牌安装孔，以保证能用M6规格的螺栓将号牌直接牢固可靠地安装在车辆上。汽车前号牌一般是通过固定在车辆前保险杠而满足安装在车辆上的要求。在该法规正式发布之前，各大车企一般在前保设计两个号牌安装孔，用以装配固定汽车号牌。该两个号牌固定点，虽然基本上能够满足号牌固定在车辆上的要求，但是也存在受外力易损坏、行驶中异响、易脱落等可靠性差的问题。为此，GB7258在2004版的基础上进行了修订，将号牌固定点由两个变更为四个，以解决实际使用过程中可靠性差的问题。为满足GB7258新的要求，各大车企一般在法规要求实施的过渡期内，通过对车辆前保险杠进行改款，在前保险杠上面增加两个安装点，从而实现四个号牌安装孔的目的。但是该种做法前期费用投入较大，一般需要开发新的保险杠模具，而且开发周期较长，对于已经投产的车型，或者前保险杠结构较为复杂的车型，实施起来较为困难。正是基于上述考虑，本技术设计了一种汽车前牌照支架。
