金刚石因其具有超高的硬度和较低的摩擦系数，特别适合用作耐磨涂层的硬质添加相。针对微米和纳米金刚石颗粒，目前主要用电镀和化学镀方法制备含金刚石的耐磨复合涂层。用电镀和化学镀制备的微米和纳米金刚石复合涂层厚度较薄，且金刚石与基质金属结合力低，容易脱落，导致涂层的耐磨性有限。对于工作在严重磨损环境下的工件，通常用粗粒度的金刚石制备厚的复合涂层。目前主要用真空烧结法和冶金强化(热喷涂、等离子喷涂、激光熔覆和自蔓延反应等)制备含金刚石复合涂层。由于金刚石颗粒尺寸通常比较小，加上形状不规则，用上述方法制备的涂层中金刚石是随机分布的，在金刚石富集的地方，结合剂过少，使金刚石容易脱落，严重时会造成整个涂层的脱落。在金刚石稀少的地方，缺少硬质相，导致涂层的耐磨性不足。另外，对于颗粒较大的金刚石，金刚石的“位姿”是随机分布的，导致涂层的表面比较粗糙。国内外提出了很多实现金刚石有序排布的方法，如：台湾的宋健民博士提出的专利技术(US6039641)，即用模板法实现均匀排布；由瑞士ETH机床与加工研究所G.Burkhard博士等提本文档来自技高网...
