In a camera mode for reading a portion of a plurality of pixels, signals that are simultaneously adjacent to the pixel are read to the capacitor simultaneously, and at least two of the capacitors in the same pixel line are temporarily shorted. In addition, the capacitor in the plurality of pixel rows is temporarily shorted to perform an averaging operation for pixels in the vertical and horizontal directions. By using the structure, the image quality degradation caused by the ripple due to the decrease of sampling frequency can be solved in an interval elimination reading operation mode which can read at a high speed.
