The present invention discloses the application of a total flavone extract from peacock grass in the preparation of antidepressant drugs. The preparation method comprises the following steps: (1) water solution on the peacock grass were extracted at least once to extract, the extraction liquid was concentrated to obtain concentrated solution; (2) the concentrated liquid with 95% ethanol (ethanol / water volume ratio) ethanol concentration is adjusted as 70% (ethanol / water volume ratio) cold, Tibet 4 C placed 12 24 hours, centrifugation, supernatant; (3) the supernatant water saturated butanol extraction with n-butanol extract, concentrated and dried to obtain the total flavone extract of Tagetes patula. The total flavonoid content of the total flavonoids extracted from this herb is 40% higher than that of the total flavonoids determined by colorimetry. Pharmacological tests showed that the total flavonoids extracted from Tagetes L. had strong antidepressant effect, and its purity was high, and the preparation method was simple and practical.
