现有的户外发光字模组主要有两种：一种是图1所示的压边字，将字壳300切割后，在围边表面激光焊接压边301，LED光源200固定在底壳200上，将透光亚克力板100用结构胶固定在压边字壳面上；另一种是树脂字，需要提前将底壳开模成型或者将金属件焊接成U型，然后将光源模组固定在底壳，预留出线，然后将U型字壳倒扣在装有树脂液体的模具中，树脂干后形成密闭字壳，然后磨去字壳毛边。第一种方法的压边字虽然结构简单，耐用性佳，但是这种字体并不美观，相应的压边301会遮挡透光亚克力板100的光，影响字体发光的视觉效果，而且长时间后，表面压边301烤漆与亚克力板100也会因为老化而产生色差，影响美观。第二种方法的树脂字用底壳开模成型或者将金属件焊接好成U型，封树脂后形成整体的发光字，利用树脂胶干后充当发光面，虽然视觉效果较好，但是这种字存在后期不能维护的问题，当光源器件损坏，将无法通过拆卸底壳这种方式进行维修更换，如果是开模形成的塑胶底壳，在成本上也较高。
