A raster scan system using RAM character generator and dual port RAM video buffer. The dual port buffer has a latch output for keeping a row of data from the RAM. The buffer has two intervals, one contains the character data and the attribute data, the other contains the character data and the glyph data. In the first mode of operation, with the first interval, sent to the character data shift register data include the character generator store and font data retrieved from the memory of the character generator with the attribute data of video data. In the second mode, a number of characters and glyphs are sent to the register with a second interval to address and update the character generation memory.
