The invention relates to a touch detection method and a touch control chip. The touch detection method includes: determining the driving signal of the touch screen from the current frequency hopping to the target frequency (S510); driving the touch screen with the driving signal of the reference frequency, in which the reference frequency is different from the target frequency (S520); collecting the original value set of the touch screen working at the reference frequency as the first original value set (S530); and according to the first original value set and the reference frequency. The first touch position (S540) where touch exists on the touch screen is determined by backing up the reference value set (S560); the touch screen (S550) is driven by the driving signal of the target frequency; the original value set when the touch screen works at the target frequency is collected as the second original value set (S560); and the reference value set of the target frequency (S570) is determined according to the second original value set and the first touch position. The set of reference values of frequency determines the touch position (S580) when the touch screen works at the target frequency. The touch detection method and touch chip are helpful to improve the detection accuracy of touch position on touch screen.
