Apparatus and method for mounting wind turbine blades on a wind turbine tower

An apparatus and method for installing a wind turbine blade on a wind turbine tower is described. A plurality of guide rods (94) are arranged near the root of the blade and the hub for connecting to the corresponding socket (96). The guide rod (94) and the socket portion (96) are arranged on the corresponding side of the wind turbine blade and the wind turbine hub to facilitate connection to each other. The guide rod (94) and the socket (96) may be provided on the same or different blades or hubs. The guide rod and the receptacle enable the blade to be positioned at the hub in a correct rotational orientation to facilitate connection of the necessary fasteners.
