一种电子设备的输入方法及系统，其中包括获取用户在输入界面中触点的操作数据(S100)；根据所述触点的操作数据解析得到待判定的输入图形(S200)；根据设定的多种输入图形与多种字符的映射关系，得到所述待判定的输入图形所对应的匹配字符(S300)；输出所述匹配字符(S400)。提供了一种依据操作的滑动轨迹来获取匹配字符的技术方案，采用单个手指即可实现所有字符的快速输入，依据输入图形的形状与字符进行关联，可以提取便捷的特征进行编码，用户无需过多记忆和练习即可轻松记忆编码规则；无需过多键位支持，可以减小相应的输入装置的体积，极大程度地方便用户的使用。
