重介浅槽具有结构紧凑、分选精度高、占地面积小、工艺简单、操作方便和循环介质量小等优点，在选煤厂的工艺系统中担负着洗选块煤的重要角色，是我厂生产环节不可或缺的组成部分。生产中浅槽发生故障的概率较低，但是一旦出现故障，处理过程十分繁琐，影响生产时间很长。原煤在开采过程中会混入一些杂物、铁器，铁器对选煤厂部分设备的影响巨大，原煤在入洗前会经除铁器除铁，由于部分铁器会被埋入煤中，除铁器能力有限，并不能彻底清除原煤中的铁器，以至于小部分铁器会进入浅槽分选机。由于浅槽底部平行面与上坡段结合处相对摩擦力较大，造成滑槽底板磨损过快，底板与刮板间隙相对于其它部位间隙较大，易导致此部位卡铁器，造成压车事故。一旦出现此类事故，需使用潜水泵排空槽体内悬浮液。由于介质沉淀，料液较稠，泵上量较小，排介时间很长，通常要四个小时以上才能处理好，耗时耗力，对生产影响很大。
