建筑幕墙大量采用了金属板幕墙，很多建筑设计还要求金属板表面带有金属格栅造型。传统的带金属格栅造型的幕墙做法，一是采用折弯型铝单板做面板，通过对铝单板进行折弯、焊接等工艺加工成连续的格栅造型，来满足外观要求，但折弯型铝单板在加工时，折角部位弯弧圆角明显，焊接部位铝单板平整度难以保证，加工偏差较大，影响安装精度和外观效果，加工成本也较高，且因铝单板加工工艺限制，部分造型无法加工。二是采用铝单板平板外表面连接铝合金型材作为格栅条，但此种方案材料成本较高，且加工工序较多，加工安装精度也不容易保证，不能充分满足建筑设计和幕墙设计日新月异发展的需要。
