目前生产铝合金自动化精密锻件盘圆坯料，由于锻造设备的连续化和高度自动化，需要大盘重坯料形式来提高产品质量，降低工人劳动强度。生产铝合金如6082或7075，由于铸锭，如Ф152mm×6200mm的铸锭，需要均匀化热处理后加工才能保证材料性能需要，采用连铸连轧法无法满足铸坯的均匀化处理工序，所以最好采用传统的热加工工艺。传统的铝热轧线棒一般直径不大于15mm，最常见为8mm，但对于直径为15-45mm的热轧盘圆，一般铝合金盘重达300多公斤，盘圆直径至少在1200-1500mm。在热轧铝盘圆棒材生产运输过程中，常通过柱形底座来放置热轧铝盘圆棒材。这种底座在使用过程中存在不足之处，一是大都为固定式结构，当热轧铝盘圆棒材达到一定圈数后需要移动至搬运装置进行搬运；二是柱体直径固定，不能满足不同卷曲直径热轧铝盘圆棒材的放置需求。
