一种程序文件显示方法及终端，该方法包括：当一个程序文件被打开或者被新建时，判断已显示的程序文件的数量是否超过预设文件数量；若所述已显示的程序文件的数量超过预设文件数量，关闭所述已显示的各个程序文件中至少一个程序文件，打开或者新建所述一个程序文件并进行显示。使得已显示的程序文件的名称能被完整的显示出来，同时方便操作程序文件，并且，使得不能无限制地打开或者新建程序文件，不会过多地占用资源，进而不影响整体的运行效率。
