注射器是医疗器械中常用的一种器具，目前普通的注射器包括针头、针管和芯杆三个部件构成。注射器由前端带有小孔的针筒以及与之匹配的活塞芯杆组成。注射器用来将少量的液体或其注入到其它方法无法接近的区域或者从那些地方抽出。在芯杆拔出的时候液体或者气体从针筒前端小孔吸入，在芯杆推入时将液体或者气体挤出。用注射器以及针头抽取或者注入气体或者液体的这个过程叫作注射。它虽然具有结构简单、使用方便的优点。但是也存在诸多的问题，例如现有的注射器每次使用后针头容易刺伤医务人员且注射器不容易销毁，给医务人员增加了极大的工作难度。注射器在抽取药液时不容易读数；使用注射器再对病人进行肌肉注射时，会伴随较强的疼痛感，产生该疼痛感的原因包括：一是针头插入到肌肉后带来刺痛感，二是在注射过程中，被注射出的液体具有一定的压强，会对人体造成一定疼痛。另外，目前所用的针头均为针尖端口处的出液孔，注射液只从该出液孔被注射到肌肉中，这种针头在注射过程中，注射液进入到肌肉内面积较小，不利于注射液的扩散。
