凤梨病、黑穗病、赤腐病等是甘蔗苗期重要的土传和种子传播病害,田间发病率一般达10%-30%,严重时可达50%以上。甘蔗遭受此类病菌侵害后,不但影响种苗的发芽和蔗苗的生长,还会影响甘蔗中后期蔗株的正常发育和糖分积累,造成甘蔗减产和蔗糖分量损失。凤梨病、黑穗病通过蔗种的浸种消毒,可预防此类病害。因此,甘蔗种苗浸种消毒是甘蔗种苗处理的一项重要技术,不但有利于甘蔗种苗的防病治病,还能促进甘蔗种苗发芽、齐苗和壮苗。传统甘蔗种苗的消毒方法经过人工进行剥叶、砍双芽苗、装袋、配药、浸种、捞起、晾干等步骤。由于甘蔗种苗用量大(500-800kg/亩),浸种过程需要在固定的场所设置大型的浸种容器(通常为在一个固定的空场建立一个吨级甘蔗承载量的浸泡池),由于浸种的容器有限,故在浸种消毒之前还必须对待消毒的甘蔗种苗进行如剥叶、砍成双芽苗、装袋等预处理操作,并需依靠吊装设备等完成,以提高每批的处理量。另外,当一批甘蔗种苗浸泡一定时间后,才能进行下一批甘蔗种苗的浸泡工作,持续长时间的浸泡容易造成坏根等情况,浸泡后的甘蔗种苗需经晾干后才能转移至甘蔗地种植,费时费工。因此该传统的甘蔗种苗浸种工作量很大,繁琐。在目前劳动力紧缺、成本较高的情况下,很难在实际生产中大面积推广,也很难满足机械化大生产的要求。
