随着冶金技术的不断进步和对冶炼纯净钢、特殊合金钢的要求不断提高,中间包覆盖剂逐渐向多功能发展,具体功能有绝热保温、防止大气对钢水的二次氧化、吸附钢中上浮夹杂物、不与钢水反应避免钢水污染等中间包覆盖剂按碱度大小可分为酸性覆盖剂和碱性覆盖剂。传统中间包覆盖剂碱度均在1.0以下,属酸性或中性覆盖材料,它的含碳量w(C)5%~40%,保温效果好,不易结渣壳,但易对钢水增碳污染钢水,对碱性包衬侵蚀严重,特别是因氧势高,防止二次氧化效果差,同时由于Al2O3含量高,粘度大,吸收Al2O3等非金属夹杂能力较弱。碱度大于2.0的为碱性覆盖剂,它的吸收夹杂能力强,但保温效果差,而且由于碱度太高,易在中包内结壳,影响工艺操作。目前,中间包覆盖剂的作用越来越引起人们的重视。高级优质超低碳钢采用无碳酸性渣来解决增碳问题,采用高碱性渣来解决钢水夹杂问题。如果覆盖剂不含碳[w(C)小于1%],最直接的问题就是覆盖剂粉末将快速熔化,保温层急剧变薄,保温效果恶化。同样,碱性覆盖剂的最大缺点也是保温性差,其导热系数为酸性的2倍,所以必须提高其保温性能。提高中间包覆盖剂的碱度,就可以提高其吸收夹杂物的能力;中间包覆盖剂中不加碳质材料,就不会对钢水增碳。但是,碱度的提高和不加碳质材料,会降低中间包覆盖剂的保温效果,而且高碱度覆盖剂在使用时还易结渣壳。因此,如何改善传统中间包覆盖剂保温性能,流动性及吸附夹杂能力不佳的缺点,以获取更高综合性能的中间包覆盖剂,是其推广与应用,满足工业生产需求亟待解决的问题。
