在安装锁具时,需要通过螺栓将门板两侧的安装底板连接固定,使安装底板之间的锁芯组同步固定于门板内，由于安装底板设有较多的安装孔位如限位槽、螺栓连接孔等，为了遮盖底板上的安装孔位，通常会在安装底板外侧加设有装饰面板。目前常见的装饰面板与安装底板之间的连接方式有以下几种：1、在安装底板外沿加工有螺纹，通过设有内螺纹的装饰面板与之旋合固定；2、在装饰面板侧壁设有螺钉孔，通过螺钉固定在底板上；3、在装饰面板侧壁冲压有凹点，使装饰面板扣合在底板对应设有的缺口上。这几种连接方式均存在缺点，如方式1采用螺纹旋合固定的方式显得安装不便,只适合圆形安装底板，对于装饰面板上的异型锁芯安装孔位，旋合时难以与安装底板对正适配；方式2和方式3的安装位外露，破坏了整体的美观。
