在商用自动扶梯中，大多是利用摩擦轮与扶手带间摩擦力驱动扶手带运行。用以形成扶手带与摩擦轮间包角并对扶手带运行起导向作用的是上、下托带轮。托带轮相对摩擦轮的平行度决定着其能否将扶手带按正确方位导向摩擦轮，决定着扶手带唇边和摩擦轮侧面是否产生相擦而损坏扶手带。图1中所示的是现有技术中比较常见的一种托带轮，其具有尼龙制成的滚轮，以及安装在滚轮中的轴承a3。滚轮包括承托扶手带的承托段a1和固定轴承的固定段a2，固定段与承托段之间的连接角度是90°，图1中的固定段基本上是与承托段平齐的，这样做是为了保证承托段的强度。然而上述增加承托段强度的做法却会增加托带轮的整体制作成本。
