一种玻璃棉，由玻璃纤维构成，玻璃纤维中含有玻璃材料和添加剂，添加剂是硼砂，硼砂的重量占玻璃材料和添加剂的总重量的０．２～３．０％。添加剂中含有粘合剂。玻璃材料采用废玻璃块。一种制作上述玻璃棉的方法，首先按重量百分比分别称取玻璃材料和添加剂，其次将玻璃材料粉碎并进行水洗和脱水，然后在玻璃材料中加入添加剂并进行混合，之后将玻璃材料和添加剂的混合物挤压成型，最后对挤压成型的混合物进行加热干燥。本发明专利技术直接采用玻璃为原料，玻璃棉的配方简单，制作方法简单，因为玻璃是熟料，熔点低，不再需要１４００℃的高温来燃烧熔化，既可以解决废玻璃的处理问题，又可以节约能源。
