本申请实施例公开了一种数据通信的方法、装置及系统，涉及通信技术领域，用以解决现有技术中仅仅基于待传输数据包的大小来判断是否使用Grant Free通信机制，不能满足不同业务需求的数据传输的问题。包括：用户设备UE接收会话管理功能SMF实体发送的数据包过滤信息，其中，数据包过滤信息包括：数据包长度的阈值和数据包分片指示。若UE确定待传输的数据包的长度小于或等于数据包长度的阈值，且待传输的数据包不是数据包分片，则UE确定待传输的数据包能够使用免授权的通信机制。本申请实施例应用于数据包的传输过程中。
