The present embodiment provides a service takeover method, a storage device and a service takeover device. When communication failures occur between two storage devices in the storage system, the two storage devices acquire their own running status respectively. The running state reflects the current utilization of system resources of storage devices. Then, the delay time is determined according to the running state, which is the waiting time before the storage device sends the arbitration request to the arbitration server. The two storage devices send an arbitration request to the arbitration server after the delay time respectively to request the business to be taken over. It is advantageous for arbitration server to select better storage devices to take over host business.
