The embodiment of the present application provides a method and apparatus for generating wavelength routing network topology, which relates to the field of communication, and can solve the problems of the difference between physical wavelength topology and network topology generated according to logical configuration, and the constraint of network size on sending flooding information. The method is as follows: the first network element receives a set of wavelength information transmitted by the second network element; for each wavelength information, if it is determined that the wavelength corresponding to the wavelength information passes through the first network element, the first network element updates the cross-section count of the wavelength; and the first network element sends updates to the next network element corresponding to the port not receiving the wavelength information. The updated cross-section count, the transmission port of the second network element, the reception port of the first network element receiving the wavelength and the identification of the wavelength are transmitted to the network management device. The application example is applied to the scene of optical wavelength routing network topology generated in optical network.
