切线消防泵显著特点是流量-扬程曲线很平坦,在全流量范围内扬程变化很小,特别是在小流量时不超压,解决了消防给水过程中流量变化时压力波动大的难题。常规切线消防泵由泵体、叶轮、泵盖三大部份组成;过流部分由吸水室、叶轮、压水室、扩散管组成,见图1和图2,图中1泵体、2泵盖、3叶轮、4吸水室、5压水室、6扩散管。泵体为环形压水室结构、叶轮为开式结构、泵盖为无密封环结构,开式叶轮在环形压水室中旋转,只有部分液体由切线方向进入扩散管,其缺点如下:1、叶轮和压水室之间间隙较大,部分液体在环形压水室中旋转,损失较大;2、开式叶轮由于没有盖板,间隙损失大;3、泵盖无密封环存在水力损失,且不能有效平衡轴向力,机封承受压力大。综上,结构上的原因导致常规切线消防泵效率低,不能满足高效节能要求。
