目前，现有不锈钢薄壁管材之间的连接方式有以下几种：有的是将连接件与不锈钢薄壁管材之间采用焊接式连接。这种焊接式连接方式，施工麻烦，现场必须使用电，其焊接的部位温度高容易出现贫铬现象，现场又不能进行固溶处理，使焊接部位容易生锈，而且这种焊接连接方式成本较高；有的是在连接件中设置密封圈并通过挤压造成连接件与管件口部的塑性变形来完成连接件与不锈钢薄壁管材之间的连接。这种连接方式所用的密封圈是丁晴橡胶密封圈，其耐候性和回弹性都较差，密封圈容易老化，时间一长很可能引起渗漏，无法确保管道系统长期无泄漏发生；还有的是采用单纯的粘接方式，这种方式是将连接件的连接孔做成内锥孔，同时将不锈钢管材的连接口做成外锥口，再将密封胶粘剂分别涂抹在连接件的内锥孔和不锈钢管材的外锥口的表面上，最后将不锈钢管材的外锥口插入连接件的内锥孔内，来实现它们的连接。这种连接方式虽然解决了密封圈的老化问题，但它们之间的抗拉拔力还不太理想，连接强度不如前面两种方式。因此不锈钢薄壁管材间的连接形式有待进一步解决。
