早我国十年，日本、美国、英国等国家均对挡风抑尘技术进行了深入的研究和应用。二十多年前日本就已将防风网应用于控制港口露天煤堆场的粉尘污染。我国防尘技术的研究起步较晚，对其防尘机理，加工工艺，工程设计的专门研究工作较少。武汉水利工程学院流体力学教研室，曾于80年代中期利用环境风洞试验结合上海朱家码头煤堆场“挡风抑尘措施研究”的课题，对防尘网有关结构参数进行了试验，并提出了一些待解决的问题。主要用于煤矿，焦化厂，电厂等企业工厂的储煤厂的防风抑尘；港口，码头储煤厂及各种料场；钢铁、建材、水泥等企业各种露天料场的抑尘；农作物防风，沙化天气防尘等恶劣环境；铁路、公路、煤炭集运站储煤场、建筑工地、道路扬尘、高速公路两侧等。建筑工地上的灰尘较多，会对工地以及周边环境造成很大影响，因此需要在一些污染严重的建筑场地铺设防尘网。目前铺设防尘网主要采用手工铺设，占用的时间成本比较大。而且防尘网的清洗需要人力和时间，不是很方便，我们需要一种省时省力的防尘网。
