The present disclosure relates to methods and apparatus for decoding a stereo speaker signal from a high order stereo reverberant acoustic audio signal. The decoding of the stereo reverberation representation of the stereo speakers is called first order stereo mixing. However, this first-order stereo reverberation has either a high negative sidelobe or a bad location in the front region. The present invention deals with the processing of a stereo decoder of higher order stereo reverberation HOA. The expected translation function can be derived from the translational law of displacement of the virtual source between speakers. For each speaker, the expected translational function defined in all possible input directions of the sampling point. The translation function is approached by the circular harmonic function, and the desired translation function is matched with the decrease of the acoustic order of the solid reverberation. For the front region of the loudspeaker, the translation law such as the tangent law or the vector base amplitude shift (VBAP) is used. For the back region, a translation function with slight attenuation of sounds coming from these directions is defined.
