The invention relates to a surface having a lightweight foam ceramic metal ion exchange function, which is the growth of a layer on the surface of light ceramic foam with an active layer of heavy metal ion exchange function, such as the Prussian blue active layer. Light foam ceramic is macro pore in low density porous ceramic millimeter scale, has rich surface active layer formed on the surface; and has good ion exchange function, can effectively remove toxic heavy metal ions in water. Therefore, an efficient metal ion adsorption material can be obtained by combining the two together and can float on the surface of the water. The formation of the porous composite material is used by the natural zeolite powder as the main raw material for preparation of lightweight foam ceramic as substrate, through the interfacial reaction in solution, directly on the surface of the ceramics were obtained with active layer of heavy metal ion exchange function.
