随着国内轨道车辆水平的不断提高,在机车、地铁、城市轻轨和动车组上都普遍采用空调来调节司机室和客室内的空气温度,为司乘人员提供舒适的工作环境。目前轨道车辆用空调多采用顶置式。对于顶置式空调机组,检修盖门都通过绞链4设置在空调箱体的上表面,为方便维修常采用旋转压紧锁进行锁闭。因为机组的蒸发腔侧需要密封性,所以使用密封条密封,现有技术中的顶置式空调机组是依靠锁具的压紧起到密封压紧功能的。为达到锁闭和密封性能每个盖门常采用3至5个旋转压紧锁。在空调的安装和检修维护过程中,打开盖门后再次关闭时,需要向下压住盖门,压缩密封条后,再旋转锁具才能正常的锁闭好。如盖门顶到密封条上时,操作人员向下按压力不够,锁具的锁舌就有可能没有旋转到锁挡板的下方,而是旋转到锁挡板的侧面,产生锁闭的假象。此时锁具没有正常锁闭盖门,盖门实际处于打开状态,而且操作人员不仔细查看也不易发现。随着轨道车辆速度提高,车顶的空气流速很大,很容易将未锁闭的检修盖门吹开。打开的检修盖门已经超出车辆通过限界,会与车辆上方的输电用电线电缆或其他铁路线路上的设置相撞,产生设备损坏或更严重的后果。因此,为避免出现上述情况,要求空调机组盖门上除旋转压紧锁具之外还必须设置防护机构,或称为二级防护机构,防止在锁具未正常锁闭时盖门被风吹开的情况出现。
